Historical Description | Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna were the last imperial couple of the Russian Empire. Nicholas II reigned from 1894 until his abdication during the February Revolution. His reign was marked by political unrest, the Russo-Japanese War, and the First World War. Following the October Revolution, the imperial family was imprisoned and executed at Yekaterinburg on 17 July 1918. Their deaths marked the end of more than three centuries of Romanov rule. |
