Historical Description

The work is a visual travel narrative, a typical example of “travel vedute” popular in the 19th century — featuring scenes from various countries along a travel route, combined with explanatory text. The aim was to present both the familiar and the foreign side by side. The lithographs are carefully executed, often printed on a sepia-toned background and occasionally highlighted with white accents.
