Castellini Giovanni Carlo

Giovanni Carlo Castellini (often signing as Giuseppe or G. Castellini) was an esteemed Italian copper and steel engraver, active in Florence and Milan during the first half of the 19th century. He was a master of the aquatint technique. Castellini worked as a reproductive engraver for renowned publishers, specializing in translating the drawings and expedition reports of explorers into finely detailed print plates. His most famous works were created for Giulio Ferrario’s monumental, multi-volume encyclopedic work, "Il costume antico e moderno".
