Josef Schoyerer (March 1844 - 1923) was a German landscape painter. He later turned to painting and became a student of Karl Millner. A main focus of his work was mountain painting, whereby he placed more emphasis on composition than detail. He undertook numerous study trips to Tyrol and Italy, where he painted, among other things, the ore processing of the mine on the Silberleithe near Biberwier.

Historical Description

Lake Maggiore is a large lake located on the south side of the Alps. It is the second largest lake in Italy and the largest in southern Switzerland. The lake and its shoreline are divided between the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy and the Swiss canton of Ticino. Located halfway between Lake Orta and Lake Lugano, Islands: Borromean Islands (three islands and two islets located between Verbania to the north and Stresa to the south)
