Description | Darstellung der Bostoner Tea Party von Daniel Chodowiecki. |

Historical Description | The Boston Tea Party is the name given to an act of resistance against British colonial policy in the harbour of the North American city of Boston in December 1773. It was the culmination of a long-simmering dispute between the 13 North American colonies and the mother country, Great Britain. 342 crates of tea belonging to the British East India Company were thrown into the harbour basin from the anchored ships on that day by Boston citizens symbolically disguised as Indians. It is difficult to reconstruct who the disguised participants actually were, but they probably represented a broad spectrum of Boston society. |
