Historical Description

Weidenbach is a market in the Middle Franconian district of Ansbach, the seat of the administrative community Triesdorf and belongs to the metropolitan region of Nuremberg. m the year 1229 the village was first mentioned in a document as "Widenbach". It was described there as a free farming village. In 1600, the neighboring farming village of Triesdorf was sold by the Lords of Seckendorff to the Margrave of Ansbach, Georg Friedrich I.. The Margrave and his successors expanded Triesdorf into their summer residence, and in the course of this reconstruction the 16 farmers from Triesdorf were relocated to Weidenbach. From 1682 onwards, major reconstruction work began in Triesdorf, the White Castle was built and Triesdorf was surrounded by a brick wall, the so-called Red Wall. In 1624, Weidenbach is granted the right to hold a market. When Christian Friedrich Carl Alexander of Brandenburg-Ansbach took over the regency of the margraviate, a second building boom began in Triesdorf. Alexander had a great passion for hunting. Triesdorf offered him a wide field of activity for his passion. Officially, his seat of government was Ansbach, but due to his love of hunting he spent most of his time in Triesdorf. Due to his constant presence, an extensive court was necessary. Thus, an economy was also established, which was to ensure the nutrition of the court society. Many members of the court built bourgeois houses in Weidenbach in the classical late Baroque style. In 1848, the estate became the site of the Royal Bavarian District Farming School in Triesdorf. In 1806 Weidenbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria and from 1862 to the district office of Feuchtwangen.
