Historical Description | The Flood is described in the mythological tales of various cultures of oriental antiquity as a God-sent catastrophic flood that was intended to destroy all of humanity and the land animals. Only a few particularly God-fearing people escaped the catastrophe. The Flood narratives usually cite the wrath of God or the gods over the transgressions of mankind as the reason for the Flood. Here, about Noah and his family in Genesis 1 of the Bible. In Noah's 600th year, the flood began on the 17th day of the second month. The flood lasted 40 days on earth.
