Historical Description

Kites are a genus of birds of prey within the hawk family. The genus contains three species: the red kite, which lives almost exclusively in Europe, the black kite, which is widespread across large parts of Europe, Asia and Australia, and the yellow-billed kite, which is native to Africa. Kites are medium-sized birds of prey with long, low-fingered wings that are bent at the carpal joint during flight.
