Plate 270 shows three splendid depictions of blood eyes or swamp devil's eyes, upright cinquefoil and bloodroot or tormentil. Potentilla palustris is a plant species from the genus Potentilla in the Rosaceae family. It has a circumpolar distribution and colonizes fens and intermediate bogs. In 1613, the first edition of the magnificent work Hortus Eystettensis was published, produced by the pharmacist, botanist, collector, engraver and publisher Basilius Besler from Nuremberg - 2013 was the 400th anniversary of the first edition!
