Plate 251, fol. 116 shows 3 Vexiernelken (I. Lychnis coronaria flore rubro pleno / II. Lychnis coronaria flore incarnato punctata / III. Lychnis coronaria flore incarnato non punctata. - Old German: I. Volle Margen-Röslein, mit rothen Blumen / II. Fleisch-rothe Margen-Röslein mit düppeln / III. Fleisch-rothe Margen-Röslein, ohne düppeln). In 1613 Besler published two versions of the Hortus Eystettensis. The first version consisted of a high-quality small edition, printed on one side, mostly coloured. The second version was a cheaper book trade edition without the accompanying texts, which were already controversial at the time, for cost reasons. The first printings can be recognised by their watermarks and single-sided printing. | |
