Plate 252 shows three splendid depictions of two heather carnations (lat. Lychnis coronaria, Old German Margenröslein) and a broom heather. The heather (lat. It is a characteristic plant species of the heath landscape. The crown campion (Silene coronaria. Inclusion in the genus Silene only since 1995, until then Lychnis coronaria), also called Vexiernelke, is a plant species from the carnation family.1613 saw the publication of the first edition of the magnificent work Hortus Eystettensis, produced by the pharmacist, botanist, collector, engraver and publisher Basilius Besler from Nuremberg. 2013 was the 400th anniversary of the first edition!
