East African Standard Ltd. (1902-1948)

East African Standard Ltd. was a significant company in Kenya that published the eponymous newspaper. The newspaper was founded in 1902 by A.G. Sutherland in Nairobi and became one of the most important newspapers in East Africa, particularly during the British colonial period and later during the independence phase. Before and after Kenya's independence in 1963, The East African Standard was an important medium that reflected the evolving political landscape.
