Title | Das ander buch / Wie Italia zum ersten ist besessen worden und wo im der nam herkompt. |
Mythology shows the two-faced Roman patron god Janus (Latin Ianus) in the background of agriculture and vines. He was the Roman god of the beginning and the end. Janus is depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. The German text describes the naming of Italy (first called Ianicula by Janus). Furthermore, Münster wants his readers to know that the word Janus comes from the Hebrew and means wyn. Thus his name is Janus and he was the first to invent wine. | |
