Historical Description

Painting is one of the oldest forms of human expression. As early as prehistoric times, cave paintings featuring animal motifs were created. In antiquity, painting was mainly used for religious and decorative purposes, as seen in Egyptian and Roman art. During the Middle Ages, Christian art dominated, often lacking perspective and characterized by strong symbolism. The Renaissance marked a new era: perspective, anatomy, and realistic representation were discovered and perfected. In the Baroque period, painting became dramatic and emotional. Later, during Classicism, it returned to strict forms inspired by antiquity. Romanticism focused on emotion and nature. From the 19th century onwards, painting became increasingly experimental: Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, and many other styles emerged. In the 20th century, abstract, conceptual, and digital forms of expression were added.
