The view above shows Captain Cook's anchorage in Kealakekua Bay (Karakakooa Bay) in Hawaii. It shows dozens of Native Hawaiian canoes and two sailboats. The scene above was originally sketched by John Webber, a talented young artist who accompanied Captain James Cook on his third voyage to the Pacific in 1776-1780. After a design by Louis Auguste de Sainson, engraved by Beyer. Portrait below shows King Tammeamea of the Sandwich Islands.
