Historical Description | The dingo (Dingo), historically known as the Dog of New Holland, is a wild canid native to Australia. It probably arrived on the continent several thousand years ago with early human settlers. Dingoes are highly adaptable predators and have played an important role in Australia's ecosystems. The shepherd dog (Dog) is a domestic dog bred to herd and guard livestock. For centuries, such dogs have been indispensable companions to shepherds, valued for their intelligence, obedience, and protective instincts. The hunting dog is a domestic dog selectively bred to assist hunters by tracking, pointing, retrieving, or pursuing game. Different breeds have been developed for specialized hunting tasks and have accompanied humans since antiquity. The Spitz, or Pomeranian-type dog, belongs to one of the oldest groups of domestic dogs, characterized by its pointed muzzle, erect ears, curled tail, and dense double coat. Historically, larger Spitz dogs served as watchdogs and working dogs, while smaller varieties became popular companion animals. |
