Plate 4 shows three depictions of trees and semi-shrubs in spring. Nos. I and II show cherry blossoms (lat. Prunus spec.), III spruce or Norway spruce (lat. Picea abies). In 1613, the first edition of the magnificent Hortus Eystettensis was published, produced by the pharmacist, botanist, collector, engraver and publisher Basilius Besler from Nuremberg. 2013 was the 400th anniversary of the first edition!
